We explore two ways of defining rough paths which are naturally well-suited to manifolds without having to add too much structure on them. The first definition looks at rough paths as functionals on the space of all Banach space-valued Lipschitz one-forms (based on 'Rough paths on manifolds', by Cass, Litterer and Lyons), while the second one considers rough paths as a collection/concatenation of local rough paths defined on domains of charts (based on 'A new definition of rough paths on manifolds', by B. and Lyons).
